Stocks got off to a strong start but couldn’t hold onto early gains.
The DOW finished higher, while the S&P finished lower for the first time in 5 days.
But it was the NASDAQ that really struggling, lagging behind the major indices.

Here’s where the major indices ended the day:
- The S&P finished with 0.1% loss. Down 2 points, the S&P ended at 2,770.
- The DOW ended 0.4% higher. Adding 95 points, the DOW closed at 25,241.
- The NASDAQ was down 0.7%. With a 54 point loss, the NASDAQ finished at 7,635.
- Bitcoin ended 0.3% higher. Adding $25, Bitcoin is trading at $7,690.
Crude Oil (CL) finished with its best close in June. Up 1.8%, CL ended at $65,87 a barrel. Concerns over Venezuela’s production helped Crude Oil today. Reports claim that Venezuela is backed up a month with deliveries because of the country’s economic challenges.
Chinese telecom giant ZTE was back in the news today. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the U.S. will end sanctions against the company in lieu of a $1 billion penalty and compliance monitoring.
Allegeran (AGN) was up over 5.0% after news that Carl Icahn has amassed small position in the company. The stock finished with a 5.1% gain.
