Introducing: Daily Edge Newest Retirement Heavyweight

Zach Scheidt – Editor, The Daily Edge

I have an important announcement to make today…

As you know, we have a fine stable of writers that contribute to The Daily Edge (like Alan Knuckman, Jody Chudley and Jim Rickards).

But today, we’re going to add a new heavyweight to our ranks…

This is someone who is capable of helping you navigate ALL aspects of your retirement journey — from maximizing your Social Security benefits… to avoiding the common financial pitfalls that most retirees make… to seamlessly transitioning towards the retired mindset after a long career in the workforce.

Without further ado, let me introduce you to Beau Henderson, the professional Retirement Coach with the experience and know-how to change your life.

Beau is a master certified success coach, author, radio host and financial advisor.

He has helped more than 3,000 families discover their true relationship with money and has equipped them to live a healthy, wealthy, fulfilled life of purpose.

In a few extreme examples Beau has helped retirees generate over $100,000, $200,000, and even $300,000 in extra Social Security payouts. So we’re talking about big money here — and it’s something that most retirees don’t have any real guidance on.

Now, with Beau’s expertise now at your disposal, it’s your turn to stay ahead of the rest with strategies and actionable ideas that can help you live the rich retirement you deserve.

That’s why as soon as we signed Beau to a contract, I sat down to interview him. And as anticipated, within minutes Beau revealed a few retirement insights that I think you’ll like — plus, a whole lot more. That’s the power of a world-renowned Retirement Coach like Beau.

Read below for my full interview with Beau and keep your eyes peeled for more content from this retirement heavyweight. The retirement of your dreams is within reach, and as a Daily Edge reader you’ll have the inside track.

Zach: Beau, it’s great to finally sit down with you to ask a few questions about your insights and experience. You’re actually the first Retirement Coach I’ve interviewed, so I’m looking forward to this as much as anyone else.

Beau: Thanks for having me on board. I’m excited to help our readers navigate retirement, Social Security, taxes, their own personal journey and more!

Zach: So let’s get to it. What exactly is does a Retirement Coach do? I’ve been hearing a lot about this lately. But I don’t know of too many people who have thought about retirement coaching. So how would you best describe the term?

Beau: Great question.

I 100% believe that retirement coaches represent the new model of retirement planning. Within the next 2-3 years, someone saying they have a retirement coach will be as normal as someone saying they have a personal trainer.

That’s because the financial industry often does a poor job serving the consumer because advice comes in the form of charts, graphs, and spreadsheets that are used to sell a product.

A retirement coach will actually address the non-financial aspects of a successful retirement as well, which helps the client avoid the mistakes, traps, and surprises that often show up in the transition from working life to retirement.

Don’t get me wrong… the math is important and a crucial part of getting the retirement scenario right. But a plan that is only financial is truly only half a plan. Retirement Coaches work on both sides.

Specific examples of non-financial aspects of a successful retirement that need to be addressed include retirement identity, relationships, satisfaction, meaning, health, and peace of mind.

Zach: That’s great, Beau. I think we’ll make a great team together covering all areas of the spectrum.

Now to my next question. You’re saying the retirement landscape is changing. Can you explain that a bit? What was it like two or three decades ago compared to now?

Beau: The biggest change is that many people did not live until retirement age. And many of those that did live into their retirement years had pensions, savings, and Social Security to ensure they were OK.

The game changer is longevity. While it is great that we are healthier and living much longer, it does create — and even multiplies — new risks in retirement.

Take for instance healthcare. Healthcare expenses and long-term events can completely wipe a family out and statistically it will have a significant impact on most of us. It may sound odd, but surviving an illness in retirement can be one of the most devastating financial events that we could face.

And then there’s Social Security. Life expectancy is now in the 80’s for most, and one of the most important retirement decisions we need to get right is making sure that we are maximizing our social security benefits.

There are over 500 claiming options and there is very little information available on Social Security strategy and how to potentially increase your benefit. It is not uncommon to find an additional 40k, 60k, 100k+ in additional lifetime Social Security benefits by knowing the rules and options to create an optimized Social Security strategy. And I plan on showing our readers just that.

Zach: That’s great, Beau. I’m sure every one of our readers could use an extra 40-100k! Now tell me a little bit more about you. Why did you devote your career to helping people navigate retirement?

There are a few reasons:

My father passed away at 49 years old and my mom was left with his business and a few pieces of real estate. I immersed myself in financial planning to help her and quickly learned that there is a serious lack of resources out there to truly help people navigate crucial life transitions.

I noticed successful, smart, multi-millionaire friends were getting their retirement strategy wrong because of bad information or lack of available information. They were costing themselves and their family hundreds of thousands of dollars of retirement dollars by not having the right information and depending on professionals for advice who may or may not have their best interest in mind

I have developed the knowledge and skill sets over the last 16 years that give me the ability to help address the retirement education gap and teach people how to focus on the right retirement strategy.

Successful Strategy = Successful Retirement. Knowledge truly is power in winning the retirement game and my mission is to become THE retirement resource to help Americans have the tools, information, and expertise to navigate a successful retirement.

Zach: Thanks, Beau. I think you covered some great stuff to get us going here and really thinking behind the scenes about the crucial decisions that go into planning a successful retirement. I’ll be sure to sit down with you again soon. But for now welcome aboard, we’re glad to have you on our side

Beau: Much appreciated. Thanks, Zach. Glad to be onboard.
